The Reflections were an American vocal group from Detroit, Michigan, best known for their 1964 hit “(Just Like) Romeo and Juliet,” a defining example of mid-1960s pop-soul. Formed in the early 1960s, the group featured Joe Stubbs (lead vocals), John Simmons, and Eddie Kendrick, among others who rotated through the lineup. Recording for Golden World Records, a Detroit label that rivaled Motown, they achieved major success with their breakout single, which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and performed well on the R&B charts. Despite follow-up releases like “Like Columbus Did” and “Talkin’ About My Girl,” they were unable to match that initial success, due in part to lineup changes, evolving musical trends, and strong competition in the Detroit scene.
